FERPA Notice
Effective Date: November 2025
This FERPA Notice applies when Leonard Educational Evaluations, LLC conducts assessments for school districts, public schools, private schools, or charter schools, including Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs).
1. Your Rights Under FERPA
When an evaluation is conducted for a school, the resulting records may be considered education records. Under FERPA, parents and eligible students (18+) have the right to:

Inspect and review educational evaluation records

Request amendments to inaccurate information

Consent to disclosures

File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education
2. How We Handle Educational Records
We may share evaluation information with:

The referring school district or agency

Special education teams
-
Teachers or school staff involved in the educational planning process
We only disclose information allowed under FERPA or with your consent.
3. Distinction Between HIPAA & FERPA

Evaluations for medical or private reasons fall under HIPAA

Evaluations for a school district fall under FERPA

Evaluations paid privately but submitted to a school may fall under both; in these cases, HIPAA protections apply until the parent/guardian submits the record to the school
4. Parent/Guardian Consent
Written consent is required before we release evaluation results to schools unless we are contracted directly by a district.
